Message from the Chapter Commander to All Fellow Knights

I penned this message on a Sunday afternoon to all our fellow knights with hope in my heart for the spring of new beginnings. As we unite under the noble banner of knighthood, let us remember the profound values that guide our mission and strengthen our brotherhood.

With a strong brotherhood spanning all Four Corners of our Chapter, we are reminded of the legacy of Dr José Rizal, who championed empathy, reason, and respect among diverse peoples. Guided by his example, we embrace compassion, education, and a shared commitment to promoting tolerance and intercultural harmony.

Our knighthood is not merely a title, it is a call to serve with integrity and uplift those around us. This bond of brotherhood connects us across borders, empowering us to spread peace and uphold the universal ideals that Rizal cherished.

Let us carry forward the values of honour, loyalty and service with pride. As brothers, may we illuminate the world with knowledge, harmony and love, fostering a community that reflects the strength and unity of our diverse backgrounds.

In the spirit of resilience, I conclude with the Latin phrase: “Non Omnis Moriar” — Not all of me shall die.

Together, let us pave the way for a brighter future, united in our purpose and unwavering in our brotherhood.

In solidarity, yours knightly,

Sir Billy Chan, KGOR, DSM, DSS, LTM

Chapter Commander – World Brothers Chapter

Who is Rizal?

José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896) was a Filipino nationalist, writer and polymath active at the end of the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines. He is considered the national hero (pambansang bayani) of the Philippines whose non-violent actions inspired Philippine independence. His vast range of intellectual and artistic pursuits has become an inspiration to the Filipino people. His literary works contributed greatly to the Filipino people’s desire for independence from Spain. His execution became the catalyst for the string of events that would lead to Philippine independence in 1898 and making the Philippines the first democratic republic in Asia. In 1911, The Order of the Knights of Rizal was established by the men that formed the honour guard of Rizal during his State Funeral.
